D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser wants to expand the streetcar line east to the Benning Road Metro station and west to Union Station and Georgetown. The $12 budget proposal released on Thursday calls for $120 million to be allocated for construction and roughly $170 million to be allocated for project management for the 2020 and 2021 fiscal years. For the next six years, $335 million will be allocated to finish the initial 2.2-mile line along H Street and Benning Road streetcar line. No word yet on when the streetcar will open its doors to the public.
